Kansas City has some wonderful holiday traditions. As our guest, you are invited to participate in any of these public events while you are in town.

The 86th Annual KCP&L Plaza Lighting Ceremony – Nov 26th: 5pm-8pm

Every Thanksgiving, Kansas Citians gather on the Country Club Plaza to kick off the holiday season. Local celebrities, bands and fireworks celebrate the flipping of the switch on thousands of lights that outline every building of the Plaza. The Plaza shops have extended hours during the holiday season from November 23rd through December 30th, and carriage rides or plane flights are available to tour the lights in style. Crown Center Holiday Events – Nov 5th-Jan 26th

Crown Center is another fun Kansas City holiday tradition. The outdoor ice skating terrace opens on Nov 6th. The Mayor’s Christmas Tree lighting is No 27th. At Crown Center, you can enjoy all sorts of holiday shopping, dining and family-friendly activities. They host a Santa, a gingerbread station, face painting, holiday choirs, and a Spectacular Christmas Show. Find more information at:

The Kansas City Ballet Presents The Nutcracker – Dec 12th-24th

Join Kansas City Ballet this holiday for the classic, Victorian-era story by E.T.A. Hoffman. Union Station’s The Best Christmas Pageant Ever – Nov 24th-Dec 26th

Theater for Young America presents this special holiday program at Union Station at the H&R Block City Stage. Adapted by Barbara Robinson from her book of the same name, this memorable Christmas tale has been a favorite of young readers since 1972 and is appropriate for all ages. Union Station also host Science City, the Da Vinci Exhibit, and New Year’s Swingin’ Eve. Find more information at:

Power & Light District NYE Live! – Dec 31st

For over 6 years, NYE Live! has been the BIGGEST and best New Year's Eve party in Kansas City.
